Best of the month
By
Hello Everyone!, I am back!. It has been hard to keep this blog up to date for a couple of reasons, hacking attacks and re-scheduling my routine w
ith the internet. But well, in the end I have good news, every month I do a list of my favorite videos and I share it with my friends on fb, but now it is here where I’m posting all that, it’s a much better outlet to share these lists in that timeframe, also more people can see these amazing videos. Hopefully you’ll have a nice screen to look at them
1) NATURE, TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE
Here is an interesting animation of nature and technology with music from Apparat (Bpitch Control). “It is a short abstract movie dealing with nature and maritime creatures, metamorphosis and transformation – it connects art and science. ” It was made using this >> Modeling & Animation: Cinema 4d / Compositng: After Effects / Editing: Final Cut / Sound: Warm Signal by Apparat (Shitkatapult)
2) MATHEMATICAL AND GENERATIVE ANIMATION
Mathematical and generative Graphics by Sub Blue Awesome animation. This video does not have music from Apparat , but it does have a great soundtrack, also the visual input and details are just amazing and beautiful.
3) THE THOMAS BEALE CIPHER
This beautiful short is based on a true story of the famous unsolved code. The film contains 16 hidden messages that hold clues to the characters’ secrets. Eight are fairly easy requiring only a close eye. Six are moderately difficult using various encryption methods. Two are extremely difficult requiring a genius mind to decrypt.
4) THE ART of DROWNING
Directed by Diego Maclean. Poem by Billy Collins. This short film is a great way to direct small and interesting hand drawn animations, check it out and pay attention to it, it’s pretty interesting.
5) UNDERWATER
Just another awesome video by PES. This short seems that now he is using CGI and compositing to enhance the quality of his productions, I am not sure if the water bubbles where actually animated in stop motion, and I don’t think so, but if he had it done it that way – Man, my respect forever-. I think he should actually get into hyper-realism and work his videos with that aim. Then, I think he definitely will be remembered as a Master of the Arts in Video History. Via Short Stories
6) INACTIVO PROJECT
SUPER STUDIO Argentina -Inactivo Project “SUPERESTUDIO is an international Animation and Design company that works from Buenos Aires towards the rest of the world developing Tv brandings, commercial spots and audiovisual productions. Specializing in motion and design” I think SUPERSTUDIO should only be doing this type
of projects for what they call “Lamole” or their B sides . In their own words “this history completes the saga of “Invisible” and “Invertido” and it introduces into Tuco’s Mind, main character of the trilogy. In this opportunity he will transit past temporal lines achieving the revenge of his childhood’s drama…For this production, we have a worked on 16 mm support and postproduced in high definition, with 3d modeling and composition.”
7) IM GONNA MAKE IT BETTER
This video is about the work flow that usually happens in our daily lives at work or in design projects. So this is the actual process people should memorize to produce standard quality projects in the entertainment industry.
1) PS’s, PHONES AND HUMANS
Weird videos and experimental stuff are fun, this one is so catchy and well executed that I actually would love to see an entire movie with this type of creatures.
2) RE
RE: is an audiovisual installation by Bram Snijders (Sitd) and Carolien Teunisse (check profile for full description) and was part of ‘Borderless Reality,’ an exhibition co-organized by art center nabi, ISMAR 2010 and V2_Institute for the Unstable Media. It explored a borderless world developed from the point where physical reality and virtual layer become entangled in augmented and mixed reality technologies.

Check out this video about Street Artist Barry McGee installing his art work in Sao Paulo.
4) ROMAIN TARDY A.K.A. ALTO
VJ and DJ’s getting together for independent projects experimenting with surface mapping. “Romain Tardy alias Aalto spent 14 days before the performance in the first Lunchmeat’s art residency. He prepared the stage design and unique visual show for Nosaj Thing. Small team of carpenters helped him to construct the wooden base, which was coveder by more than 500 polystyrene triangles.”
5) MTV by KORB
I liked this project for MTV by Korb. It seems pretty interesting and definitely very detailed oriented. Perhaps something trying to achieve the work from Universal Everything.
6) WHAT IF YOU PUT JUPITER WHERE THE MOON IS?
Get a real impression of how small we are in the universe, we are nothing!
1) UDERCITY
Undercity is a great short documentary that takes you on a ride through NYC subways, Amtrak tunnels, sewers and even to the top of the Williamsburg bridge. I’ve spent my fair share of time exploring abandoned warehouses, factories, and subway tunnels so this video was like a walk down memory lane. I’m not sure if it’s a guy thing but there is something amazing about going to places that you’re not supposed to go and exploring decaying structures that most people have forgot. Put aside the next 27:54 minutes of your day and explore NYC like you’ve never done before. Video shot and directed by Andrew Wonder with travel navigation by Steve Duncan of Undercity.
2) BLACK GOLD
This Documentary about coffee tells the story of Ethiopian coffee farmers who work hard for less than a dollar a day to bring those little cups of black gold to our tables. They starve while we drink what they have produced. Support this film and fare trade. Shop local or support fare trade coffee brands.“Multinational coffee companies now rule our shopping malls and supermarkets and dominate the industry worth over $80 billion, making coffee the most valuable trading commodity in the world after oil. But while we continue to pay for our lattes and cappuccinos, the price paid to
coffee farmers remains so low that many have been forced to abandon their coffee fields. “ http://www.blackgoldmovie.com/story.php
3) ITALO ROMANO!!!
The following description, which is very accurate, was taken straight as it appeared on BD website: “Italo Romano is no average skateboarder. He skates better than most people I know and doesn’t sweat the small stuff like not having legs. After watching the above video I felt like a fat, lazy pessimist who see’s the world as a half empty cup. Make sure to watch this video next time you’re complaining about how tough you have it, how things feel impossible, or when you want to give up. Thanks Italo for showing us that anything is possible and that giving up is the easy way out!”
4) RESTREPO
RESTREPO is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley. The movie focuses on a remote 15-man outpost, “Restrepo,” named after a platoon medic who was killed in action. It was considered one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. This is an entirely experiential film: the cameras never leave the valley; there are no interviews with generals or diplomats. The only goal is to make viewers feel as if they have just been through a 90-minute deployment. This is war, full stop. The conclusions are up to you
5) A MATTER OF DECENCY
Immigration prosecution in Denmark is a Matter of Decency. Denmark has violated the International Law for refugees and immigrants and they have beendividing families and also violating human rights.

1) SOUTH CENTRAL – The day I die
Disturbingly morbid music video, pure violence by the way. It’s one of those things you can’t stop watching even tho you don’t agree to it. I find it interesting but not amazing.
2) B. FLEISCHMANN presents PLAYTIME
Interesting and playful music video
3) FOOD FOR ANIMALS – Tween My Lips
Featuring a Naked man, is kind of attractive animated video that could have been cool to see executed in other songs or projects.
6) COCOROISE – Lemonade
7) CASSIUS – I LOVE YOU SO
We Are From LA is a group of film dudes that offer services to the demanding French labels. Check out this project for Cassius that follows tendency of a new category for interactive music videos. For this one they have developed an app for the iPhone that sync lips with the song.
9) SCISSOR SISTERS – INVISIBLE LIGHT
