This is a very interesting microdocumentary that talks about the power of data and computers. When data and computers are linked together at a global scale and are used with new objectives, we are defining newer forms of understanding and interpreting the world. Luke Dubois mentions ” This century is the century of data, that’s the defining thing. Last century was the century of electricity.”-

Read MorePicture Perfect is a web series about the work of fine art photographers at their studios and their travels around the world. I have been particularly interested in following these episodes because they show more than just the process of making images, they show the work process by photographers and how they go about in their daily lives.
Most of these photographers have a peculiar behavior and lifestyle that can be recognized and compared between them, and I would venture to say they are quite similar in how they are, and that they embody the way of living as independent artists in our era: the self management, self production and self distribution of work, all very dependent and linked by the internet and the opening of the world through it, and always looking for making the art pieces profitable.
Have you ever pictured yourself in the future …
Read MoreGreen Porno is a series of Internet shorts written and performed by Isabella Rossellini comissioned by the Sundance Channel. The shorts are about 2 minutes long and are gems of edutaintment. Green Porno is the kind of cross-pollinator between pop culture and serious science that ends with the publishing of a book for the 3rd season of this project.
From anchovy orgies to the squid’s ten-arm embrace to the makeup-sex routine of whales, the endearingly odd short films and accompanying visuals reveal a lively and wonderful world in the depths of the ocean.
Isabella Fiorella Elettra Giovanna Rossellini (born 18 June 1952) is an Italian actress, filmmaker, author, philanthropist, and model. Rossellini is noted for her 14-year tenure as a Lancôme model, and for her roles in films such as Blue Velvet and Death Becomes Her.

Read MoreMurata presents a new series of prints using imagery rendered entirely on the computer. As in his previous work, Murata uses objects that already exist in the world, playing with their inherent narratives and associations. Murata’s still lifes are composed of arranged objects such as VHS cassette tapes, fruit, skulls, cracked iPhones, musical instruments, and beer bottles. He places these objects in a virtual space that appears eerily real, accentuating their strange relationships with each other as they rest in a timeless abstract space. With these prints, Murata moves in the opposite direction of time-based video, emphasizing stillness, tension and pictorial illusion.
When it comes to the Art of Collage, one of the current references is definitely Simmons & Burke. This duo originally from LA, creates extravagant sound and image collages, or collages that have audible soundtracks.
In the words of an LA Times writter: “They aren’t images of car crashes or natural disasters. They are expressions of the digital present, hellish and heavenly, decadent and sophisticated, frightening and wondrous. This is what we wished for.” she mentions, ”L.A.-based collaborators Case Simmons and Andrew Burke don’t just surf the Web, they steep in it. All the imagery in their prints and the sounds in their accompanying audio tracks derive from Internet sources. This is a 21st century collage, the hyperactive, disembodied progeny of Dadaist experimentation with scissors and glue. The art of Hannah Höch and others, irreverent as it was roughly a century ago, now seems quaint compared …

“ Morpho Towers–Two Standing Spirals is an installation that consists of two ferrofluid sculptures that moves synthetically to music. The two spiral towers stand on a large plate that hold ferrofluid. When the music starts, the magnetic field around the tower is strengthened. Spikes of ferrofluid are born from the bottom plate and move up, trembling and rotating around the edge of the iron spiral.”
There are great videos showing how ferro fluid moves, its amazing.

Read MoreThis is the first time I hear about Sebastian Hempel, a kinetic artist from Germany. His works resemble the works of Julio Le Parc (Argentina) and deserve comparison because they are actually great. Many of his works may also remind us from those art pieces of the 60′s that made emphasis on the interaction with the audience. While browsing in his website and his youtube channel, I have found a large and amazing collection of works for more than a decade. With some works outstanding fromothers, he has kept a style and a system that keeps consistency and it’s still enjoyable.
I have made a list of my favorite pieces that you can follow after the photos.

Mark Chadwick is an artist from the UK, his pieces of art are powerful, and to my surprise, they were actually created by the randomness of machines that were let to do the work before the artist. With no other intention but to find the right result, the artist uses external objects that do the work on the canvas by applying ink and paint.
In his own words : ” My art practice is concerned by the use of machines in the production of an artwork. With our culture becoming more and more engaged with new technologies, my work questions the implications of handing over control of an artwork to a mechanical device. With the actions of any machine the result of human intention, I use machines to allow chance to enter the creative process, exploring ideas surrounding authorship, consciousness and interaction. I allow …
Read MoreI really encourage you to browse around Matthew Neibuhr‘s website and if you can buy one of his art works. Many people think that drawing is for kids and that we stop doing it because we are supposed to do more serious things. What about drawing as a form of exrpression and refelction. Find here a bunch of works of many more at Matt Neibuhr[dot]com.
“A wonderful thing about drawing a line is that it can be any number of things. One line is not necessarily any more important or informative than any other line. We might assign a line a representative value, it may become symbolic. Line as an idea drawn, can be a beautiful thing in all of its imperfect representation. – Matt Niebuhr “
